Bidvest Wits players set to represent the country in African tournament

Five Bidvest Wits players have been selected by Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter to play in the Four Nations tournament in Zambia later this month.

The Clever Boys’ Darren Keet, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Reeve Frosler, Sfiso Hlanti and Buhle Mkwanazi will join the national squad for an international tournament in Zambia.

Defender Mkwanazi said that it was an honour to be chosen to represent the country. “I worked really hard to be where I am. Being selected shows that working hard and dedication pays off,” he said.

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt told Wits Vuvuzela that all the players who have been selected for the national team deserve to be there.

“They worked really hard to establish themselves. This is also a great opportunity for them to further make a mark in Africa,” Hunt said.

He said that he looks forward to their return after the tournament. “I am positive that they will return with a wealth of knowledge and experience which will help the team going forward in the Premier Soccer League this season,” Hunt said.

Clever Boys supporter and second-year BCom student Ishmael Mulaudzi said that the call up shows the quality of players that Bidvest Wits has.

“I know they will do very well at the tournament. They will make South Africa proud,” Mulaudzi said.

Bafana Bafana’s first game in the tournament is on March 22 against Angola at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 3pm. Participating countries include Zambia, Angola, and Zimbabwe.
