ABSA Premiership Woza Nazo campaign made a stop at Wits University on April 26.
FOOTBALL fans attending the Bidvest Wits and AmaZulu match at the Bidvest Stadium today, April 28, stand a chance to win a cash prize of R5 000 during the half time shootout against former national goalkeeper Emile Baron, and ultimately R1 million in two weeks’ time.
This is part of the Woza Nazo campaign sponsored by ABSA, which came to Wits University on Thursday, April 26, giving students an opportunity to take pictures with the ABSA Premiership trophy and to win a number of giveaway prizes.
Wits was selected to host an activation stop in the Premiership ‘Kick for a Million’ campaign that has been running throughout the 2017/18 season.
Today’s match was chosen for the last selection in the competition before the final showdown of the 10 finalists during the trophy handout ceremony which will be on the last day of the season, on Saturday, May 12.
Present at the activation were former Wits player, Stanton “Stiga” Fredericks and Ayanda Dlamini, a former player for AmaZulu.
“It’s a great campaign, it gets us to meet the supporters which are very important in the games,” Dlamini told Wits Vuvuzela.
He added, “It’s also a great campaign for us to come out here and have fun and see people happy and taking pictures with us. And then to see them involving themselves in the competition and winning something,”
Fredericks, who represented Bafana Bafana on 14 occasions, said that the campaign was for the benefit of the league as whole. “This is a great initiative from ABSA. I think a million bucks could help you and me. It’s great to bring fans to the game. It’s always better when there’s a big crowd for the players and for the product of the PSL as well,” he said.
“I find the competition very interesting,” said fourth-year BSc student, Precious Zulu, who attended Thursday’s activation. “A lot of people are not aware of the match, so the activation catches people’s attention and invites people to the soccer life.”
The winner of the final showdown at the season finale on May 12 will walk away with R1 million.
