Wits campus radio station, Voice of Wits (VOWFM), had an exclusive interview on Wednesday morning with an insider at Leratong Hospital about the sex video story Sowetan had as its front page lead on Monday.
The insider, who asked to remain anonymous, said hospital staff had known about the incident for about 2 weeks, adding that it had created a tense atmosphere at the hospital.
“The guy has allegedly recorded other videos with other people from the hospital. The prison warden’s wife works here, at Leratong Hospital,” the source said..
The source also confirmed that the man who filmed the sexual encounter was admitted to hospital suffering from depression after the story broke.
Raising debates in offices and in people’s homes; and having “trending status” on social networks that were atwitter with comments and more rumours much of the week, the story seems far from over.
Vuvuzela contacted other people at the hospital but all were afraid to comment on the incident, citing “fear of compromising their jobs”.
