Having completed my undergraduate studies in English and Film, Visual and Performing Arts, my love for words led me to journalism.

Richard Wilbur once said, “one of the jobs of poetry is to make the unbearable bearable, not by falsehood but clear, precise confrontation.” Although my passions have shifted from the world of poetry to that of journalism, I strongly believe that my calling remains vested in these words and I hope to become a clear, precise, and confrontational communicator.

I have a BA in Media Studies and Film, Visual and Performing Arts (Wits).

Seeing myself as an aspiring multimedia journalist, my dreams centre around impactful storytelling within the discipline.

What I hope to achieve from being on Team Vuvu in 2023 is to learn, develop, and grow my journalistic skills (writing, photography, and videography), practices, and values.

If I am not in the newsroom, you can probably find me on the tennis court or in a very long line in the matrix.

I’m excited to explore the field of journalism, as it’s already challenging me to look beyond what I am and what I know to be true in the world.

I generally epitomize oblivion and taking things at face value but that’s about to change!! Journalists should be aware of their surroundings and adapt to this ever-evolving tech-savvy world. My mantra is, “dreams don’t work unless you do.”

I hold a Bachelor Arts general undergraduate degree from the University of the Witwatersrand with a double major in Media Studies and Sociology.

I am anything but simple, a perfectionist of note too. What informs my approach to life is the belief that the essence of humanity is hypocrisy and the reason we find life challenging because we are constantly at war with identifying with one specific and particular side. I find comfort in knowing that there is no formula to living, everyone is facing their own reality of trials and errors.

I am 25 years old and from Cape Town, and I have just completed my Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree in Journalism and Communications Science.

Growing up on the Cape Flats I was surrounded by many stories that I felt mattered but weren’t being told. This is what sparked my love for journalism. I always want to make sure that the stories I tell are impactful and that they answer the simple question – why should people care?

When I was six years old, I would fill all the available space in my parents’ diaries with picture stories. While my peers were chasing a ball, or playing hide and seek I would be collecting rocks, giving them personalities and narratives, and making them talk to each other. Stories are how I make sense of the world.

I have an undergraduate degree in Political Studies from Rhodes University and a Master’s in Political Science from Wits.
