The EFF showed its solidarity with Palestine in a gathering on the Wits University campus earlier today.

National Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi joined Wits students and workers who gathered to show their support for Israel Apartheid Week (IAW) outside the Umthombo Building earlier today.
Ndlozi, also a Wits PhD student, addressed the gathering and affirmed the EFF’s committment to supporting Palestine. “Israel is an offence, it must be isolated because it is a colonial state which does not protect the Palestinians hence we should boycott and isolate the Israel apartheid system,” Ndlozi said.
“We will never abandon Palestinians therefore students should get Palestinians to come and speak at the universities as a way of creating awareness about Israel apartheid,” Ndlozi added.
Former Wits SRC president Shaeera Kalla, also a member of the Wits Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) who organised the IAW events said she was happy to be part of the PSC as it is a “nonpartisan, secular and progressive organisation that Ndlozi himself was a member of when he was at Wits”.
Altaaf Adams, a University of Johannesburg student who was part of the gathering said “we need to take the solidarity of Palestinians beyond what it is already … the struggle is not limited to political parties”.
The gathering formed part of the annual #IAW, an international campaign which “aims to raise awareness about Israel’s ongoing settler-colonial project and apartheid policies over the Palestinian people”, according to the website apartheidweek.org.
