Wits is set to get a new Dean of Students. 

Wits Dean of Students, Prof Puleng Lenka-Bula, has been appointed as the deputy rector of institutional change, student affairs and community engagement at the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein.

Jerome September, the deputy Dean of Students Jerome September said Lenka-Bula is currently serving her notice until the April 1st, 2018 before assuming her new position at UFS. September said Lenka-Bula’s post at Wits will be filled in due time, as the university goes through the required processes. “The post has been advertised, I don’t know how long the process will take,” said September.

6Before joining Wits in 2015, Lenka-Bula was Dean of Students at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and was also an Associate Professor of Ethics at the institution. She has studied and trained in South Africa, Lesotho and Canada, and is widely published in local and international academic journals.

A tweet on February 5, 2018 by Olwethy Sipuka congratulated Lenka-Bula on her appointment: “I wish to congratulate my force and sister Prof  on her appointment as Deputy Rector ( Deputy Vice Chancellor): Institutional Change, Student Affairs and Community Engagement at the University of Free State.”

Lenka-Bula responded to the congratulatory message saying, “Thank you very much … I am excited about the invitation to serve in this new responsibility.” Lenka-Bula has note responded to requests for comment from Wits Vuvuzela.
