A new graduate recruitment programme is launching in South Africa.

A new graduate recruitment programme that makes use of an online platform to connect graduates with companies is set to launch in South Africa at the end of the month. Think-Career will make corporate opportunities specifically targeted at graduates more visible to those new to the job market.

“Different graduates do not know which companies offer graduates employment and [Think-Career] will allow them to view different programmes from various companies,” said managing director of Think-Career, Kahni Mhlongo.

Kahni added that the platform will be partnering with learning institutions, companies and government. The details of these partnerships will be announced at the programme launch next Friday, March 23.

Think-Career enables graduates to upload their CVs onto their website where a background check is done by the Think-Career team. Graduates then submit a two-minute video of themselves and thereafter they are profiled. Companies can then view a graduate’s profile and, if impressed, make them offers.

Wits graduate recruitment coordinator, Bongi Ndlovu, said that while Wits has heard about the Think-Career platform it has not been discussed in her department. She said that if Wits were to partner with Think-Career, “I would like to think that students will be better prepared for the world of work and their job search skills will be well-informed.”

Fourth year BCom Law student, Amaarah Mayet, told Wits Vuvuzela that she currently uses a programme called Leaply to apply to companies, such as Weber-Wentzel, who require different formatted CVs. “If this platform [Think-Career] can perform the functions of Leaply and do it better, I would definitely use it,” she said.
