The Wits Cricket Club’s first team will be playing their third T20 game against Jeppe Cricket Club in the Gauteng Cricket Board league on Sunday, October 7 at Wits Education Campus.

This will be the teams’ third league match of the season. The Witsies beat the Florida Cricket Club in their opening game but lost to Wanderers Cricket Club on Sunday, September 30.

Wits cricket coach Garnett Kruger said it would be important for the boys to adjust their mentalities during the game if they were to win.

“They are prepared for the game but they need to maintain their mental state and not make too   many errors early on in the game.”

Kruger added that concentration is key as every ball matters in the limited over format.

First team Bowler, Matthew Lovatt told Wits Vuvuzela that he is ready for the encounter against Jeppe.

“I am excited for the upcoming game, we lost last week which was a disappointment but we just change our mind-set and go out there and try get a win.”

Samantha Mashaba, an avid cricket fan, told Wits Vuvuzela that she had full faith in the cricket team and their ability to win their game this coming weekend.

“I think with hard work and the support of the rest of the Wits community they can go a long way and we wish them all the best. They should make us proud as we believe in them,” the 22-year-old said.

First team player Bradley Morrison told Wits Vuvuzela that the team has adequately prepared for the game.

“The expectation is to learn from last week, correct our mistakes and have a better team performance,” the BCom student said.

The second and third cricket teams will be playing on Sunday, October 7 in the Presidents League B and the Sunday Three League respectively.
