Wits Pharmacy mourns the loss of a young student.

A third-year Wits University pharmacy student took her own life at Argyle House on Sunday evening, August 18.

The body of the student was found by a fellow student and security personnel in the deceased’s room at the Parktown residence.

The student’s death was confirmed in a statement from the dean of student affairs, Jerome September.

“The loss of a young life is one too many, and there are no words that could comfort those who were close to her – our thoughts and prayers are with you all,” September said.

The circumstances surrounding the student’s death have not been confirmed and Wits Vuvuzela has not been able to establish whether an investigation is underway.

September he and members of the Faculty of Health Sciences are in contact with the student’s family who have requested privacy as they mourn their loved one.
