A Rhodes University student was found dead in her apartment this past Sunday.

A Rhodes University student was found dead in her apartment in Grahamstown in the eastern Cape this past Sunday, April 17.
Londiwe Jobela, a final-year Bachelor of Social Science student from Durban “died of natural causes”, according to a statement by the Director of Student Affairs at Rhodes University, Dr Colleen Vassiliou.
A post by Jobela’s family on her Facebook profile indicated that the young student had a heart condition and suffered from asthma. The post said that Jobela had an asthma attack which led to her death.
Rhodes Student Representatives Council (SRC) Media Councillor, Tuletu Nelani led tributes to Jobela on social media. On the SRC page she posted: “We extend sincere condolences to her family and friends”.
Arrangements for a memorial service and funeral were not immediately available while the university is providing counselling to students affected by Jobela’s death.
